The first race of the season was well attended with many racers returning from last year as well as some new faces for their first race. The sky was sunny but the wind was up which made jumping high into the air very difficult. This will be the last race run on the current layout. The new layout will be a bit bigger and a bit more technical if you can trust the rumors. BBQ at lunch filled the bellies and door prizes from Freedom Hobbies finished the day. Thanks to all who attended. The results of this race will be totaled into the overall series points found HERE.
1/16 Open A-Main
In 1/16 Open we welcomed a new racer to the series, Serge Guinard. At the start of the race Ben, Chris, and Serge took off in position 1,2,3 and that’s how they finished. It was also the debut for Mike’s son Nathan. He did well for his first race but had battery problems that held him back from finishing the race.

In the 1/10 Buggy We welcomed a new racer Gordon Mercer to the class. At the start the leaders collided allowing Gregg to move up from 4th to 1st and lead for a few laps. As the race progressed Kyle and Jeremy made the pass for 1st and 2nd. Lap 6 tragedy struck for Shane where a part failure ended his race. Kyle had a few bad laps in the end of the race allowing Gregg and Jeremy to make the pass.

In 2wd SCT we welcomed new racer Gislain Leblanc to the 2wd SCT class. At the start of the race a good neck and neck race was happening between Pat and Gislan, but motor problems caused him to drop out of the race just a few laps in. Kyle and Pat continued the race, and Kyle ended up in first with a 22 second lead.

The start of the race had a terrible first turn pile up, but after that the race settled down into one of the best of the day.

In 1/8 truggy Shane got the early lead and lead the way to the finish. There was a battle brewing for 2nd and 3rd. Pat was getting comfortable in 2nd but didn’t notice Mike gaining quietly on him. Late in the race Mike overtook Pat and held second. Pat tried to get it back but a late race crash held him to 3rd.

1/8 Nitro Buggy
In 1/8 Nitro we welcomed new racer Dominic Goudet to the nitro class. In Nitro they ran a 15 minute final which gave them a chance to use a refuel strategy. Shane took the lead from the start and kept the lead to the finish. Dave and Chris had a battle for 2nd and continued the battle until Chris had his clutch fail. This gave Dave 2nd and Dominic worked his way to 3rd.
