Race report: Quebec Indoor Nats 2018 (from Stephane Doucet)
My 2nd year attending this race, I will say again, It was a really nice event! Thanks to all who worked to make this event possible (Sylvain Deschenes, Eric Raymond Jérôme Treignier and i’m sure i’m missing a lot of people there!).
It was a 4 day event, on an indoor track built just for this event. I raced 5 classes.
– 4wd sct (Tekno SCT410.3)
– 1/8 ebuggy (Tekno EB48.2)
– 1/8 ebuggy 35+ (Tekno EB48.2)
– 1/8 etruggy (Tekno ET48.3)
– 2wd sct (Traxxas Slash)
It was a good challenge to race that many classes, and I’m really happy with my results, even though I only had my setups to my liking on my truggy and 4wd sct at the last race of the triple A main,
I made the A main in truggy, 4wd sct and 2wd sct. B main in 35+ ebuggy and E main in ebuggy.
Results:
2wd sct: TQ and 2nd place
4wd sct (SCT410.3): qualified 9th, finished 5th overall
1/8 ebuggy (EB48.2) : 2nd in E main (only ran 1 qualifier, electrical issues)
1/8 ebuggy 35+ (EB48.2) : qualified 6th in B main, finished 5th in B main.
1/8 etruggy (ET48.3): qualified 11th, finished 10th overall
I reached all my goals for this event, which was top 10 in truggy and top 5 in 4wd sct.
My highlight on this event is, just before my last 4wd sct main, I let a little boy (around 4 years old) drive my SCT410.3 when I saw him running a tiny toy RC car on the side of the track. The smile on his face and his look was priceless. I then rushed to my pit bag and gave him a lot of RC stickers. That was a happy little dude!
Thanks to Pierre Haché for your help during the weekend, preparing my cars, cleaning tires! It was fun going to that event with you!
And also thanks to Gregg Lawton for the tuning tips, really made a difference!
Also glad to have been able to meet new racers, hoping to see you all to a race again!
Final words on this weekend:
– If you say that racing RC cars is not a sport, try racing 5 classes in a big event like that, believe me… with all the running I did, its a sport!
– Tim Hortons doesn’t have coffee in I.V pouches…
– Clay becomes slippery when feet are wet…
Finally, I would like to thank my wife Annie Doucet for enduring me doing what I love! (especially when I only talk about Rc this, and RC that after a race, before a race and during a race LOL)
And a big THANKS to all my sponsors, for the support!
