2021 Maritime RC Racing 1/10 Dirt Offroad Masters

September 11, 2021

The 2021 Maritime RC Racing 1/10 Dirt Offroad Masters will be a new format single regional event held at the Shady Pines RC Speedway. In addition to being a Maritime Regional race with lots of door prizes and awards for all mains and classes, the ‘Dirt Offroad Masters’ will be determined by the racers top finishes in any 2 of the 1/10 classes offered. It should be an interesting race because the Masters can come from a combination of any 2 classes, so the results should be surprising. There will be top 3 masters for a masters podium.

Date:

(date is dependent on the situation at the time and the availability for racers to travel)

Friday Sept 10: Track preparation (no practice before the event to keep track in pristine condition)

Saturday Sept 11: Race Day (approximately 10:00-6:00)

(Rain date sunday sept 12 if needed)

Location:

The race will be held at: Shady Pines RC Speedway at 15 Boyle Rd, Waasis, New Brunswick, E3B 8W1

Event Format:

  • Open Practice until 10, Drivers meeting and then qualifying starts 10:30, Mains start 4:30, Complete by 6:00
  • 3 rounds of qualifying (5 minute qualifiers, timed laps)
  • Best qualifier (most laps in least amount of time) determines your starting main in the class
  • All class lower mains will have bump-ups to get to the A-Mains (7 minute finals)
  • Double A-Mains (best 1 of 2) (If time permits, otherwise a single 7 minute final for each class)

Awards:

  • As with a standard MRCR regional race, event plaques for top 3 finishers for all finals in all classes.
  • Rookie awards for new racers to the Maritime RC Racing regional races.
  • Offroad Masters Award for the top 3 racers with the highest Masters points totals across any 2 classes.

Masters Points calculation:

The offroad Master will be the racer who has overcome the greatest challenge to win against the most racers across 2 classes.

The calculation to determine the Masters points is as follows:

  • The points awarded will be 1 point for each racer registered in each specific class. Example: If 20 racers are registered in the 2wd SCT class, the winner of the class will get 20 masters points. Second place in the class will receive 19 points, third will get 18 and so on. If there are 10 racers in 4wd SCT, the winner of that class will get 10 points.
  • Points available per class will depend on the entries in each class. Classes with the most entries will have the most points available.
  • The Masters points total will be based on the racers’ 2 best points counts across any of the classes they have entered. For example, if a racer has entered 3 classes their best 2 points counts will be added together for their points total and the 3rd is ignored.
  • It can be any 2 classes, and best finish is determined after the A-Mains are complete and the count is calculated.
  • 1 additional point awarded to the TQ of each class which will be added to the points in that class. For example, a TQ in 4wd SCT must count to the points in 4wd sct and cannot be applied to another class.
  • There will be awards for the top 3 masters who have the greatest points total across 2 classes combined.

Tie breaking (assuming 2 racers finishing with the same points total across the 2 classes):

  • It is anticipated there will be ties in points and they will be broken in the following way:
    • Tie breaking evaluation will be conducted on only the 2 classes that are being counted toward masters points total.
    • Highest Master points count received in a single class (between the 2 classes)
    • Highest Masters points count received in the 2nd class
    • Highest laps / Lowest time  between the 2 classes
    • Number of TQs between the 2 classes
    • If the racers are still tied after the evaluation, the tie will be broken with a best of 3 game of rock/paper/scissors

Classes:

Minimum of 6 racers to make a class (depends on turnout). Maximim of 11 racers in a heat, 12 racers will be broken into a heat of 6 and 6.
